1) Customize your avatar: this is very basic and most newbies who just joined Reddit would do that. This conveys a natural behavior for Reddit.

2) Join recommended subredits: right after creating your account, Reddit will recommend you some subreddits based on your personal preferrences. Before joining your preferred subreddits (where you will post your links), you should only join some recommended subreddits, that Reddit itself recommended for you. Those are generally huge subreddits, you can upvote some comments there in the first day. If you want, you can even comment in those subreddits from the first day, just make sure to check their requirements, do not comment on subreddits that automatically delete comments from new accounts or accounts with less than ''X'' karma.
3) Edit your profile: this is another very basic thing you can do to make your profile much more natural and human. An average new user would edit, add a bio, potentially add a banner or add social links. You can do at least 1 or 2 of those things.

4) Save posts: besides upvotes, you can also save posts before making comments. Don't abuse this feature, just save one or two posts per day to sound more natural.

5) Share posts: any social media loves when users share their posts with friends from other social media. You can share one or two posts per day with your own Whatsapp number. This is the kind of action that will convey a very human sign to Reddit algorithm, because most spammers are too lazy to do this kind of actions.

Is this mandatory?
Nope, you can build a strong and solid account on Reddit without performing those actions, but Reddit is becoming more strict and if you want to stay under the radar and reduce your ban rate, those are some actions that can increase Reddit's confidence on your account and minimize your ban risks.
I strongly recommend you to take this kind of action to stay above the average, spammers in general are too lazy to do this kind of thing and their average activity definitely doesn't include sharing and saving posts or editing their profile avatar, which is a good opportunity for us to make our accounts much more convincing for Reddit system.
