Summary:

  1. Service Shutdown: Google will fully shut down its URL shortener service, goo.gl, on August 25, 2025. Links using the goo.gl format will no longer function after this date, returning a 404 response instead.
  2. Gradual Transition: Starting August 23, 2024, some goo.gl links will show an interstitial page before redirecting to their target, informing users of the upcoming shutdown. The frequency of this interstitial page will increase as the shutdown date approaches.
